The Open Door runs warm, welcoming Day Services — we call them our Clubs — for older people across the South of Edinburgh, including those living with dementia. Open Monday to Friday, with transport provided.

Day Services

Registered with the Care Inspectorate and designed around each member, our Day Services help maintain independence and mobility, and promote wellbeing and confidence — with a hot lunch every day.

Whether it's having a blether with our members, making and serving meals, or driving our electric minibus — our volunteers make a crucial difference every single day.

Our cosy café room suits relaxed gatherings and small meetings; our larger downstairs space is ideal for events and bigger groups. Minimum two-hour hire.

A freshly made meal shared around the table, every single day.

3.00 – 4.30pm

Safely home

After more refreshments, the minibus drops you back home again.

Getting a place is simple

Every member has their own support plan and key worker, and our high staff-to-member ratio means everyone gets the care they need.

  • Private places — easily arranged for anyone aged 50 and over.
  • Subsidised places — for those 65 and over, through the Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership. Call Social Care Direct on 0131 200 2324, or ask any health or social care professional to refer you.

Fresh home baking, a warm cuppa and good company at 420 Morningside Road, 10.30am to 4pm. Every penny goes straight back into the Club — most recently keeping our minibus on the road.
